About Me:

Hi, I’m Cody Fearon — a remodeling carpenter with over 20 years of hands-on experience in residential construction, from full home remodels to smaller DIY projects. I've worked on everything from high-end kitchens in Brooklyn brownstones to rough-framed barns and hand-built shelving on vegetable farms. I’ve owned my own business, worked for others, collaborated with subcontractors across every trade, and learned how to get things done — cleanly, safely, and with care.

That range of experience means I can talk confidently about most aspects of a residential build or renovation. I know when a bid is off, when a timeline makes sense, and when a contractor is selling you something you don’t need. And I also know when a problem is beyond my expertise.

I’ve worked in a lot of different places — Portland, Oregon; upstate New York; and Brooklyn — and with a wide range of people. That variety taught me two things: one, that every home (and homeowner) is different. And two, that the best results come from clear communication and mutual respect.

Contractor-client relationships can feel overwhelming — especially if you’ve never managed a build before or are used to being talked down to. I’ve been on the inside of this industry for decades, and while there are some characters out there you’ll want to avoid, most contractors are hard-working, honest people. You just need someone who can translate what they’re saying and help you make decisions with confidence.

Before I started this consulting business, I worked on fishing boats in Alaska, drove tractors on small farms, volunteered with immigrant support organizations. I’m working toward my bachelor’s in Women and Gender Studies at CUNY Hunter.

Whether you’re hiring a contractor or building it yourself, I’m here to help you feel in control, informed, and supported.
